Granada Yoga Retreat August 2019

With Claire Cunningham & Tom Hamilton

18th - 23rd August 2019

Join our lovely teachers Claire and Tom for five days of stretching, breathing and relaxing in sunny Andalusia. With yoga, nurturing food and lots of time to relax, sunbathe, swim in the pool and simply be in this stunning and tranquil setting, this promises to be a truly special retreat.

We’ll start each day with an energising yoga practice and end the afternoon with a slower practice (which could include restorative yoga, yoga nidra and other wholesome practices) to leave you feeling healthy and relaxed. During the day you can simply unwind or we will organise a couple of outings to nearby Granada. Explore the magical Alhambra Palace and experience the authentic Hamam baths.

Location
We will be staying at the Amalurra hotel retreat centre in the tiny village of Caparacena in Andalucia, Southern Spain. The centre is set in the middle of nature, surrounded by the stunning mountains of Sierra Elvira, and is lovingly cared for by a Spanish community who follow the spiritual guru Amma (the hugging mother).

The location is very rural, far away from shops and noise. We will stay in an old traditional farm house, which has been converted into a modern retreat centre with light and airy rooms (all with ensuite) and a circular yoga and meditation space. There is a swimming pool in the grounds, and gardens.

Food
Enjoy home cooked and natural food, where most of the vegetables are grown on site. Amalurra caters for all diets including vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, and meat eaters.

Teachers
Claire is a warm and creative yoga teacher. She has a long career as a professional dancer behind her, and a deep awareness of yoga as a tool for strengthening performance potential, health and general well-being. As well as being an experienced yoga teacher, Claire is a Qigong practitioner, and Shiatsu masseuse.

Tom is the founder of The Yoga Edge yoga studios in South London. His style of teaching is challenging, yet inclusive and encouraging. Tom loves to take his students to “the edge”, to help you grow as a yogi and as a person.

Feedback from past retreats

“The Yoga Edge retreat was not only the perfect retreat but the perfect holiday too. Set in breathtaking grounds and with delicious home grown food served three times a day, it was impossible not to fully relax and have a fantastic time.” ~ Clare (July 2016)

“The week was everything I hoped for in terms of yoga, environment, people, food, etc....And as I've got back to my yoga practice at home, I've been stronger, more focused and have even managed to hold a crow pose...yay!” ~ Sandra (July 2016)

“The yoga was a very good mix between more physically hard classes in the morning and more restorative in the evening. The teaching style was very friendly and supportive.” ~ Marta (August 2017)

“I loved every moment of the experience and my yoga practice has moved on substantially. I've come home rested, restored, stronger and inspired and met some beautiful people along the way. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a retreat with The Yoga Edge.” ~ Steve (August 2017)
