3-Day Hands-On Assisting (CET)
A 3-DAY HANDS-ON ASSISTING PROGRAMME
WITH CRAIG NORRIS & TOM HAMILTON
12-14 April 2019
Learn how to give powerful and deepening yoga adjustments, develop your ability to feel and read energy, and increase your understanding of alignment and anatomy. Within the framework of the Forrest Yoga lineage, this hands on three day program is designed to increase your confidence and ability in serving others through the healing art of touch.
Taught by Craig Norris (one of The Yoga Edge’s senior teachers) and assisted by Tom Hamilton (founder of The Yoga Edge), the objective of this training is to encourage you to develop as an individual and hone your skills and tap into your inner intelligence to assist with power and authenticity.
Awareness is a vital component when developing the skills necessary to teach and assist from your own-found truths. Through daily meditation, ceremony, intensive practices and group instruction, you’ll begin to discover the healer within and the confidence to share this with others. This course will give a new experience of connection with others and of being of service.
Each day starts off with ceremony involving chanting and meditation to establish the intentions for the day and to create the space for healing and connection to occur. Deep yoga practice will then create a heightened sense of physical and energetic awareness, while challenging every muscle and cell in your body. The mornings will include breakout groups and partner work to introduce assisting in a fun and safe environment.
The afternoon sessions will encompass exercises to develop more confidence in your ability to feel and read energy and how you can use your own hands to heal from your heart. You will learn effective hands-on assists for key pose groups including backbends, twists and inversions, whilst learning alignment principles, intentions of assists, use of props, and how to enter and exit your students’ energy field safely and with respect.
WHO IS IT FOR?
This programme is for anyone who has been developing a regular yoga practice and is looking to deepen their understanding of the postures, alignments and anatomy. This programme is also ideal for those who are interested in becoming a yoga teacher, or existing yoga teachers looking to gain new teaching skills, and increase their ‘seeing’ ability. (However, you definitely don't need to be a yoga teacher to do this course!).
Craig is a senior teacher with The Yoga Edge with a wealth of experience from a number of schools and studios. He has trained with many yoga centres and lineages (including Forrest Yoga, Yoga Campus, Power Yoga, and Satyananda Yoga School), and has been a facilitator on numerous teacher trainings. Craig is much loved by students and trainee teachers for his radiant personality, bright “meggings” (male leggings) and contagious laugh! He teaches advanced topics such as the power of touch through yoga and feeling energy, delivered in an interactive and accessible way.
Craig will be assisted by Tom Hamilton, Founder of The Yoga Edge and lead facilitator on The Yoga Edge 200-hour teacher training programmes.
